“Yeah, so my new album ‘Play,’ is I guess like, it’s a really celebratory album. It’s very upbeat, it’s very colorful, very explorative. And I think after the last album I put out ‘Subtract,’ which was all about sort of grief and depression and stuff, I wanted to create something that was, like, super upbeat and positive, and here it is.”

I haven’t played these songs in public really ever, so that’s going to be exciting as well.”

STORYLINE:
Ed Sheeran held a pop-up concert in the Brooklyn borough of New York Saturday to promote his new album, "Play." It also streamed live on TikTok where there were more than 1-million views.
Sheeran performed in Domino Park against the backdrop of the Williamsburg bridge.
"It’s a really celebratory album," Sheeran explained. "It’s very upbeat, it’s very colorful, very explorative. And I think after the last album I put out ‘Subtract,’ which was all about sort of grief and depression and stuff, I wanted to create something that was, like, super upbeat and positive."
At the end of the 60-minute set, Sheeran announced plans to tour U.S. stadiums with the new album.
This isn’t the first pop-up concert Sheeran has taken the stage for TikTok. In 2021, he also performed in Suffolk, England during the Covid-19 pandemic, but without an audience.
