On Friday, three Russian fighter jets entered Estonian airspace without permission, flying over its territory for 12 minutes. Estonian officials raised Article 4 of the NATO treaty, which a NATO member can invoke if they feel that its territorial integrity or security has been threatened. Poland also reported that two Russian jets violated a security zone near a drilling platform in the Baltic Sea. NATO members are set to meet early next week to consider the alliance’s response to recent Russian incursions.
