Thousands of people in the Philippines have taken to the streets to protest corruption in flood control projects worth more than 545 billion pesos ($9.5 billion). Allegations of mismanagement have been in the spotlight in recent months during the country’s monsoon season, when towns and cities have been inundated. City estimates put the number of people who participated in Sunday’s protest in Manila at nearly 50,000.
