Western leaders expressed their united opposition to Russia in New York after Russian fighter jets violated Estonian airspace last week.
The US ambassador to the United Nations told the UN Security Council that NATO allies would defend every inch of the alliance’s territory. The British foreign secretary warned Moscow that its incursions into NATO territory could trigger an armed conflict.
On Friday, three Russian MiG fighter jets entered Estonian airspace for 12 minutes. Russia has rejected this account of events.
