STORYLINE:
Large groups of Palestinians lined up in Deir Al-Balah to get cooked rice from a charity kitchen on Friday, as Israel’s offensive in Gaza ramps up.

Displaced from Jabaliya, Mahmoud Abu Zeiter told the Associated Press that food in Gaza is scarce, and prices are high.

“We do not have money. We come to the charity kitchen to eat. We live in a tent that does not shelter us from the rain or the sun.," he added.

Central Gaza has seen more people arriving in the past few weeks, as flocks of Palestinians continue to flee Gaza City, where the Israeli army has launched an offensive and is carrying out multiple large-scale raids.

“In the past, there were a small number of people. But the number of the displaced people has increased, and now we can barely fill the containers we have (with food),” Ahmed al-Kurd, 75 said as he waited to get some cooked rice for himself and his family.

“We do not buy anything from merchants. Everything is expensive,” Mohammad Boheisi, from Deir Al-Balah, added.
