1. SOUNDBITE (English) David J. Phillip, The Associated Press:
"I’m part of the Associated Press photo team here, covering the World Athletic Championships in Tokyo. We arrived about a week early to begin setting up the cameras in the catwalk. Our team, which includes Bernat Armangue, Peter Josick, and Yuji Yorimitsu, work to install three robotic cameras and five static cameras in a catwalk These cameras are positioned around the finish line, above the pole vaults. And above the high jump and javelin areas. In addition to these cameras, we also install cameras at the finish line, both on the inside and outside of the track, as well as from the head-on position. All of these cameras can be triggered and controlled from the media tribune where we sit and monitor the action. We are able to control the cameras, shutter speed, aperture, focus, and triggering. The images are then sent directly to our computers where we select the best ones to transmit to the world. The process starts months ahead of time. The programming and details are planned out well in advance of the event.."
