Canada, the UK and Australia have formally recognized a Palestinian state, joining a growing global consensus.
Alliance for Two States co-founder Gershon Baskin tells Joumanna Bercetche it is "beyond symbolic."
The recognition is part of a "co-ordinated international effort" toward a two-state solution, according to the Canadian and Australian governments.
The move has drawn criticism from US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who argue that it will incentivize Hamas and pose a threat to Israel’s security.
