STORYLINE:
Immigration agents erected a fence outside an immigration processing facility in the Chicago suburb of Broadview earlier this week.
Broadview city officials demanded yesterday that the fence be taken down as it was built without a permit.
The city’s mayor, Katrina Thompson said that ICE has not communicated well with state and local officials about developments with the processing center, including the choice to deploy tear gas on demonstrators outside the facility last Friday.
"We’re always going to take a approach of how can we protect people? And that includes all of the demonstrators," Thompson said.
