Vice President Mike Pence at the Republican National Convention address on Aug. 26, 2020 laid out what he thought America would be under presumptive Democratic Nominee Joe Biden’s leadership. “The choice in this election has never been clearer and the stakes have never been higher,” he said. “President Trump set our nation on a path to freedom and opportunity from the very first day of this administration. But Joe Biden would set America on a path of socialism and decline.” The party planned a mix of virtual and in-person events in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., for its nominating convention after the coronavirus pandemic interrupted plans for a traditional nominating event.
