Verdict expected in Hong Kong’s new security law: AP explains

Verdicts in Hong Kong’s largest national security case will be delivered Thursday, more than three years after the defendants’ arrest.

The national security case involves some of the city’s best-known pro-democracy activists.

Associated Press videojournalist Raf Wober in Hong Kong explained that in 2021, 47 pro-democracy activists were charged with conspiracy to commit subversion under the sweeping national security law imposed on Hong Kong by Beijing for their involvement in an unofficial primary election.
