“AI is increasingly finding its way into our products. For example, our new series eight oven with dish recognition. So all the customer has to do is put the croissants in the oven, as presented in the press conference just now. The oven automatically recognizes that they are croissants and sets the correct heating mode, preparation time and even the individually selected degree of browning.”

6. SOUNDBITE (German) Andreas Diepold, Managing Director, Home Appliances, Bosch:
“One of the big challenges. As I’ve just mentioned, the new build, i.e. continuing to revitalize the kitchen business and providing further stimulus there. And another challenge is of course always to make our appliances even more efficient and environmentally friendly. The picture in the background shows the CO2-reduced refrigerator. We have now achieved a 50% reduction compared to standard models, but of course that’s not the end of the story – there’s still more to come. That will be the challenge for the next few years.”

From an AI powered oven to "green" fridges, German electronics giant Bosch are presenting smarter and more energy-efficient appliances at Berlin’s IFA consumer electronics fair.
STORYLINE:
Home electronics giant Bosch is unveiling new smart appliances at the IFA tech show in Berlin.
The German film is ushering in a new era of culinary innovation with its AI-powered Series 8 Ovens.
Bosch hope their supercharged new ovens will simplify the cooking experience.
The Series 8 ovens use AI to identify the food and gage the appropriate setting program. It then alerts the user when the dish is ready.
It’s all possible through a little camera built in to the oven that assesses and captures browning of the food.
“All the customer has to do is put the croissants in the oven… The oven automatically recognizes that they are croissants and sets the correct heating mode, preparation time and even the individually selected degree of browning,” explains Andreas Diepold, Bosch’s Managing Director of Home Appliances.
Bosch also have new dishwasher models with A energy ratings and which can be controlled by an app on your smartphone.
The company is also launching a new "Green Collection" Fridge-freezer.
The A+++ rated appliance has the smallest carbon footprint in its class, according to Bosch.
"We have now achieved a 50% reduction compared to standard models," Diepold says.
"But of course that’s not the end of the story – there’s still more to come. That will be the challenge for the next few years,” Diepold says.
IFA runs until 10 September.
