"I was informed that right now, while we handle this press conference, there are sirens in Jerusalem and center of Israel, after missiles from the Houthis in Yemen. Millions of Israelis are now running for shelter and it happens during the time that all the children go to schools or to kindergartens and this is daily life under these attacks. So I believe this is war crimes because it is targeting civilians. It is not targeting terrorists or even warriors. It is targeting civilians."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s Foreign Minister:
"First of all, it is not a collective punishment and it is not a violation of international law, and I will explain why. In international law, you have to refer to two issues. First of all, whether the population is adequately supplied and I want to emphasise the fact that during the temporary ceasefire we had between January and March, during these 42 days, 25,000 trucks entered to Gaza Strip. So they had a lot of supply there after the temporary ceasefire, we also had witnesses speaking about these stocks, including hostages that returned from there. There is no famine in Gaza Strip, it is simply not true."

STORYLINE:
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar told reporters in Tokyo that sirens were once again sounding across Israel on Wednesday morning after missiles were fired by the Houthi militant group in Yemen.

"Millions of Israelis are now running for shelter," he said, describing the attacks as "war crimes" that target civilians.

He also denied claims that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing famine due to Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid.

"There is no famine in Gaza Strip, it is simply not true," he said at the Japan National Press Club as dozens of protesters with Palestinian flags gathered outside.

During the briefing on the 10th floor of the building, a male voice was heard shouting, "Stop Genocide" and a staircase to the lower floor was temporary blocked.

On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there was “no way” Israel would halt its war in Gaza, dimming hopes for a ceasefire.
