Because we are in Gaza and there is a complete shutdown of medical services in Gaza, in the hospitals, and because there are no fully functioning hospitals, we do not know the nature of the tumor or the mass in her brain. So we decided to go ahead with a transfer (abroad for treatment) because there is no MRI machine (in Gaza) to determine the nature of this tumor. No such MRI machine is available in Gaza.”

"My son Yousef’s condition is stable after the surgery (in Gaza), thank God. He was suffering a lot before the surgery. The headaches disappeared after the tumor was removed, but he still feels headaches from time to time. We did not receive any treatment in Gaza. He needs follow-up care after the surgery. I honestly do not know what the treatment will be. I left behind a very important person in Gaza, my eldest son. I do not know how I will spend the days without him when he is totally on his own. His father, brothers are all with me. He is staying there alone. It is true that he is an adult and that he is 20 years old, but the fear is primarily for the youth in Gaza.”
