Pope makes rare apology, after reportedly using a homophobic term in a private meeting | DW News

Pope Francis has apologized after he was quoted using a derogatory term about gay people, to reaffirm his opposition to openly gay men joining seminaries.
According to Italian media, unnamed bishops reported that Francis jokingly used the slur behind closed doors. In the past, the pope has spoken publicly about being respectful towards the LGBTQ community.
