Why the ANC could lose absolute majority for the first time in 30 years | DW News

On May 29, South Africans are going to the polls in the country’s most closely fought election since the transition to democracy 30 years ago.
Parties – including the largest opposition group, the Democratic Alliance – have held their final campaign events ahead of vote. More than 50 parties are on the national ballot running for seats in the National Assembly.
Polls suggest that the governing ANC, once led by Nelson Mandela, could lose its absolute majority for the first time since the end of Apartheid.
